Munich / Helsinki, Finland, September 24th 2026 — Sungrow, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of photovoltaic inverters and energy storage solutions, and Delta Capacity partner on 600 MWh of battery storage capacity for two Finland projects, totalling up to 250 MW/ 600 MWh . The facilities, located in Kärppiö, Teuva, and Lapinlahti, will have a combined energy storage capacity of 600 MWh and are scheduled to become operational next year.
The deliveries form part of the 1 GWh framework agreement signed by Sungrow and Delta Capacity at Intersolar this year – which is already fulfilled now. The projects expand the companies’ strategic cooperation in the Nordic region and will provide Finland’s power system with additional fast-response capacity as renewable electricity generation continues to grow.
At the Kärppiö project, Strioga is acting as co-investor, while Centrica Energy is providing energy trading expertise. NEPower is responsible for the project’s electrification and substation, and Despro is serving as the local design and engineering partner.
AKKU One battery storage project located in Lapinlahti, Finland was acquired from Helios Nordic Energy as a ready-to-build project, and construction is under way. Rejlers is providing technical support during construction, while NYAB is responsible for the electrical works and other infrastructure required by the battery storage facility. Ampner is conducting the grid connection studies and compliance verification. GreenPowerMonitor, part of the DNV Group, will supply the project’s energy management, monitoring and data acquisition systems.
Flexibility to support growing renewable energy generation
The growth of wind and solar power is increasing the need for solutions that can balance electricity generation and consumption in real time. Once operational, the Kärppiö and Lapinlahti battery storage systems will support Finland’s power system by providing services including frequency regulation and balancing.
