A Sustainable Energy Landmark in Denmark

Project Background

Located in Eastern Jutland, Denmark, this renewable energy project was developed to supply clean electricity to the Danish grid while supporting the transition to a more resilient energy system. The park combines a 65 MWp solar installation with a 40 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), creating an integrated solution that not only generates renewable power but also enhances grid performance and flexibility.

The challenge

Developing a solar and storage project designed for long-term operation required technology that could deliver reliability, efficiency, and strong lifecycle value over more than 20 years. In addition to storing renewable energy, the project needed to contribute to grid stability and adapt to the requirements of the local electricity network. The owner also sought a partner capable of meeting high standards in sustainability, innovation, quality, and service, while ensuring dependable local support throughout the project's lifetime.

Sungrow solution

Sungrow was selected through a competitive tender process after demonstrating strong performance across key evaluation criteria, including sustainability, quality, innovation, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The integrated solar-plus-storage solution enables renewable energy to be stored and dispatched when needed, while supporting grid stability in the region. To further align with local environmental considerations, the battery containers were supplied in a dark green finish to blend into the surrounding landscape. The project stands as a successful example of how solar generation and battery storage can work together to create a more flexible, stable, and sustainable energy system.
