Sungrow unveils new grid-forming and scenario-driven technologies for resilient power systems

April 28, 2026, Hefei, China -- Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverter and energy storage systems (ESS), has unveiled new grid-forming and scenario-driven energy technologies, designed to improve power stability, system efficiency and project returns amidst increasingly complex energy systems. The solutions were revealed during Sungrow’s third Global Renewable Energy Summit (GRES), held at its headquarters in Hefei, China. Their applications span large‑scale PV‑ESS integration, AI data centres, green hydrogen, EV charging infrastructure and microgrids.

“We believe a premium energy solution requires multi-energy integration for low-cost power, systematic grid-forming technologies for power stability, and customized designs to adapt to different scenario needs,” said Jack Gu, Vice Chairman of Sungrow. “We deliver low-cost green power through deep PV and storage integration. ‘From every ray, to every watt, for every return’ — this is how we maximize value across the entire energy chain.”

The summit brought together 500+ guests and was supported by whitepapers and real‑world deployment case studies. During the event, Sungrow also signed strategic project agreements securing over 11 GWh in new orders, including over 2 GWh in Europe.

Grid-Forming at Scale

As power systems worldwide address grid complexity related to high renewable penetration, Sungrow has developed comprehensive grid-forming (GFM) capabilities across PV, wind, and energy storage systems. At GRES, Sungrow presented the world’s first large-scale grid-forming extreme test, covering 14 scenarios verified by TÜV and aligned with grid requirements across major markets. The testing demonstrated, among other outcomes, the successful blackstart of a comprehensive energy system within half a minute.

Sungrow also presented its 7.14MW utility-scale ESS, PowerTitan 3.0, featuring grid-forming capabilities. Despite its scale and functionality, the system enables a 1 GWh project to be deployed within 12 days.

Full-Scenario Energy Applications

Sungrow’s solutions are designed around specific operational scenarios, aligning system architecture with real world performance requirements:

· Artificial Intelligence Data Centres (AIDC) AI advances are driving surging data center power demand, requiring resilient, high-density and energy efficient infrastructure. Sungrow has released an AIDC Whitepaper, outlining key energy challenges and technologies and entered sector with a comprehensive grid-to-chip solution. This year, Sungrow will launch a SST (Solid-State Transformers) solution to reduce footprint while improve efficiency, alongside grid-forming ESS capabilities tailored for data centres.

· Green Hydrogen Sungrow Hydrogen showcased its green hydrogen technologies, with a focus on wind-solar off-grid hydrogen production and modular turnkey solutions. Its PV-storage-hydrogen off-grid test platform has passed long-term testing, with off-grid hydrogen production solutions already successfully deployed in Italy.

· PV-ESS-EV Charging Integration Many EV charging projects suffer from poor coordination among system components, resulting in underperformance and reduced returns. Sungrow’s PV/ESS/EV solution: a one-stop, integrated technology, enables closer system synergies, increasing revenue by more than 50%. Grid-forming capabilities have been extended to commercial and industrial (C&I) applications to mitigate grid fluctuations caused by large-scale ultra-fast charging.

· Mining Microgrids Most mines are located in remote areas with limited grid access, complex loads, and strict power stability requirements. To address this, Sungrow has jointly released a whitepaper on mining microgrid power solutions with TÜV Rheinland. It presents a mining microgrid solution designed for medium-scale systems (2.5MW–20MW) up to multi-microgrid clusters above 100MW.

PowerMatrix: Redefining Power System for the Renewable Era

During the summit, Sungrow also introduced its new solution PowerMatrix and the Matrix Inverter. The technology integrates PV, ESS and loads into a unified, multi-node energy network, where energy can be dynamically routed, balanced, and optimized in real time. It is built on multi-port topology, native PV-storage integration, distributed control, reconfigurable energy paths and source-level grid-forming

Building on its strong global footprint and proven track record in innovation, Sungrow—recognized as a Tier 1 PV inverter supplier—achieved 143 GW of inverter shipments and 43 GWh of energy storage deliveries in 2025. Moving forward, the company remains committed to delivering value-driven, scenario-proven solutions that empower industries worldwide and accelerate the energy transition.
