Sungrow will supply inverters for two solar projects totaling 300 MW, which will be integrated with two wind complexes in Bahia. With Sungrow’s equipment, Casa dos Ventos will hybridize two wind farms by adding photovoltaic plants with a combined installed capacity of 300 MW. The Babilônia Sul Wind Complex, which already operates with 360 MW of wind power, will receive an additional 100 MWac of solar energy through 12 SG8800UD-MV inverters and 388 PVS-16MH units supplied by Sungrow. Meanwhile, the Babilônia Centro Wind Complex, currently under construction in partnership with ArcelorMittal, will have 553 MW of installed wind capacity and an additional 200 MWac of solar power using 24 SG8800UD-MV inverters and 970 PVS-16MH units.
The recent expansion of solar energy in Brazil — which has reached an installed capacity of 46 gigawatts (GW), accounting for 19.4% of the national energy mix — highlights the strong growth of photovoltaic energy generation. According to ABSOLAR, this source has avoided the emission of 55.6 million tons of CO₂, underscoring its significant contribution to environmental sustainability. With this new contract, Sungrow strengthens its ability to integrate multiple renewable sources and optimize operational costs, reaffirming its leadership in the solar energy market and in advancing Brazil’s energy transition by consistently delivering innovative, sustainable, and efficient solutions.
Sungrow announced during Intersolar South America in August 2024 that it had sold 20 GW worth of equipment across Latin America, reaffirming its leadership in the solar generation market and its commitment to decarbonization and energy transition in the region— with a remarkable 32% increase in inverter sales in Brazil compared to the first half of 2023.
