Introduction

Designed as a real-world showcase for self-consumption, this project demonstrates how solar power, energy storage, and electric vehicle charging can be seamlessly combined into a single, intelligent energy system. The installation serves as a live demonstration site, enabling clients to experience firsthand how integrated renewable solutions perform in everyday operation. To realize this vision, Sungrow partnered with SB Energy, a specialist in photovoltaics and charging infrastructure, to deliver an integrated PV, storage, and EV charging solution. The close collaboration ensured a reliable setup tailored to complex, multi-system energy demands.

Background

The system integrates a 315 kWp photovoltaic installation with a 450 kWh Sungrow PowerStack energy storage system, supported by SG125CX-P2 inverters and 110 kW PCS units. Combined with Sungrow’s iSolarCloud monitoring platform, the setup enables efficient generation, storage, and distribution of solar energy across buildings and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. During periods of high solar production, surplus energy is stored in the battery or directed to EV charging stations. When generation is low or demand increases, stored energy is used to support on-site consumption, maximizing self-consumption and reducing reliance on grid electricity.

Benefits

Beyond lowering energy costs, the integrated system provides full transparency over energy flows. Through Sungrow’s iSolarCloud platform, operators can monitor production, storage status, consumption, and EV charging activity in real time via an intuitive interface. This level of digital visibility enhances operational efficiency and supports long-term sustainability planning, enabling the analysis of seasonal variations, peak demand periods, and weather-driven energy fluctuations to continuously optimize system performance.

Onsite interviews

“SB Energy has been a family business since 2008, specializing in turnkey photovoltaic plants and, more recently, charging infrastructure and energy storage. Given the complexity of this site, choosing Sungrow was a natural decision. Their technical support, from engineering to on-site commissioning, was highly professional and reliable. Despite the many interactions between buildings, storage, and charging systems, everything is easy to manage through iSolarCloud. The system goes beyond our expectations and represents a strong step toward integrating photovoltaics sustainably into France’s energy future.” Mel Van Woudenberg Managing Director, SB Energy

Onsite interviews

“This project was designed as a real-life showroom, allowing SB Energy’s clients to see how self-consumption solutions perform in practice. By combining photovoltaics, energy storage, and EV charging, we demonstrate how integrated systems can deliver both performance and flexibility. It is a concrete example of what we can achieve together: high-performance, durable solutions adapted to a wide range of customer projects.” Clément Martinez Distribution Leader France, Sungrow
