A Step Forward for Renewable Energy in Tunisia

Tunisia has long prioritized renewable energy as a cornerstone of its national energy strategy. The government’s PROSOL ELEC program, designed to promote solar rooftop adoption among middle- and low-income households, exemplifies this commitment. With financial incentives and technical support, the initiative encourages households with annual electricity consumption below 1,800 kWh to adopt solar power, boosting both energy independence and sustainability.

In alignment with this vision, Sungrow’s pilot project in Sfax introduces advanced microinverter solutions that enable efficient and reliable solar energy generation. Fully compliant with local grid operator STEG’s regulations, these systems address the unique needs of the Tunisian market while paving the way for broader renewable energy adoption.

The Role of Sungrow Microinverters

At the core of this milestone are Sungrow's microinverters, designed to maximize solar energy yields for residential and small-scale commercial applications. These microinverters combine innovative technology with practical design, offering:

Smart Operation and Maintenance: Quick issue detection and      one-click configuration for seamless setup.

Enhanced Safety: IP67-rated protection, no high      DC voltage, and integrated surge protection ensure reliable and safe      operation.

High Efficiency: Optimized heat dissipation and European-standard      efficiency.

Ease of Installation: Compact, lightweight designs      with simplified connectivity for rooftop installations.

Together, these features allow households to maximize energy yields from limited rooftop space while ensuring long-term reliability and cost savings.

Strengthening Local Partnerships

The success of the Sfax project is a testament to Sungrow’s collaboration with ENERGIKA, a leading Tunisian distributor specializing in photovoltaic equipment. Since 2014, ENERGIKA has played a pivotal role in developing Tunisia’s solar sector by providing high-quality products and supporting local installers.

The pilot project, completed in August 2024, is the first of many steps toward expanding Sungrow’s presence in Tunisia. As Sungrow and ENERGIKA continue to build on this success, they aim to scale up distribution and drive solar adoption across additional regions.

Driving Innovation and Impact

This project establishes Sungrow’s foothold and contributes significantly to Tunisia's energy transition. By integrating Sungrow’s microinverter technology, the project:

Enhances energy independence: Enables households to generate      and consume clean energy directly.

Lowers financial burdens: Reduces electricity costs for      middle- and low-income families.

Strengthens local industries: Bolsters the photovoltaic      installation sector, creating jobs and driving economic activity.

As a model for future projects, this pilot demonstrates how innovative renewable energy solutions can address local challenges and unlock sustainable growth.
