Oakland, October 24, 2018 -- Sungrow, the global leading inverter solution supplier for renewables, today announced it supplied overall 1500V string inverter solutions for Rhode Island’s largest utility-scale project.

The installation, known as the “Gold Meadow Farms,” is under construction in Cranston, Rhode Island and will power the City of Providence’s grid, significantly reducing electricity costs for residents and business owners in the State’s capital.

Notably, the plant utilizes the Sungrow SG125HV inverter exclusively. The inverter features a high capacity of 125kW and allows for up to 5 MW power block design with a virtual central solution, significantly increasing the yield. It is known as the world's most powerful 1500Vdc string inverter and has a large number of applications globally.

In March 2017, Rhode Island’s Governor Gina M. Raimondo announced a strategic goal to increase the amount of clean energy in the state by ten times by the end of 2020 – achieving a total of 1 GW of clean energy projects. The Gold Meadow Farms installation is the largest solar project in this portfolio to date.

Conti Solar is responsible for all design, engineering, procurement, and installation of the 21 MW DC photovoltaic ground-mounted solar array. Southern Sky Renewable Energy RI, Gold Meadow Farm's project developer, is the leading solar developer in Rhode Island with over 200,000 panels installed in New England and a pipeline of 296 MW.

According to Conti Solar, the project spans over 108.27 acres of rugged terrain. Site preparation required blasting of 40,000 cubic yards of stone ledge, which was then processed and used to backfill the low areas of the site up to 18 feet in depth. This project is one of over 45 MW of projects that Conti Solar is currently constructing in Rhode Island.
