A Uniquely Brazillian Solar Challenge In many parts of the world—for example Europe and Asia—it's common for three-phase power grids run at 380V. In Brazil however, it’s a different story. Most regions operate on 220V three-phase systems. This posed unique challenges for solar systems: as most commercial inverters on the market were designed only for 380V setups. This meant that most Brazillian PV systems required either a step-up transformer (which resulted in increased cost, complexity, and energy loss) or a 220V-compatible inverter. This installation in Bahia was no exception. When it was first commissioned, the only viable solution was to use a transformer in conjunction with a 380V inverter.
The SG75CX-LV: A Smarter Fit, Built for Brazil. In 2024, Sungrow introduced the SG75CX-LV, an inverter tailor-made for 220V three-phase grids—finally eliminating the need for external transformers. With that, major upgrades were made to the system, replacing the original inverter and removing the transformer. The result: a system that was significantly more energy-efficient, cost-effective, and easier to maintain.
Smarter Infrastructure Transformerless design: fewer parts, fewer issues Technical Excellence 98.8% inverter efficiency Real-time Sungrow monitoring Maintained in 25°C (±1°C) climate-controlled enclosures
