Eco Elementum, a leading environmental and engineering consultancy based in Die Wilgers, Pretoria, South Africa, faces frequent power outages and high electricity costs in its 1,000 m² office, disrupting operations and increasing expenses. The company aims to implement a sustainable energy solution—like solar power with battery storage—to ensure uninterrupted power, cut costs, and stay true to its eco-friendly values.
Eco Elementum faces high electricity costs and frequent power outages, which disrupt operations and productivity, while lacking a scalable backup solution to ensure long-term energy resilience.
In January 2024, Eco Elementum installed a 100 kW rooftop solar PV system at its Pretoria office to address all these challenges. The system features Sungrow’s advanced technology, including four SH25T hybrid inverters and four SBR256 batteries configured in parallel. This setup provides reliable backup power for the entire 1,000 m² facility, effectively mitigating the impacts of load shedding while reducing electricity costs. Its seamless switching capability ensures uninterrupted operations, minimizing downtime and maintaining productivity.
The system provides an uninterrupted power supply, seamlessly backing up operations during outages to maintain business continuity. It significantly reduces electricity bills through solar generation and energy storage, while its scalable design allows for future expansion to power the entire park as an Independent Power Producer (IPP). Additionally, the system creates revenue potential by enabling the sale of excess energy to neighboring businesses.
